Energy-balance in simple words is difference between food intake (energy inflow) and energy expenditure (energy outflow).
This is crucial topic so If you want lose weight you have to have negative energy balance:
deliver more calories than you burn -> you became fatter
burn more calories than you eat -> therefore you lose the weight (negative energy-balance).

I am using two apps – Endomondo for registration all my sport activity. Another is MyFitnessPal for measuring food intake.
Both apps are integrated, so MyFitnessPal knows about my energy expenditure as a result.
